Uddeholm Tyrax AM is now available, a new steel for additive manufacturing designed to be used in injection moulds for additive and glass fibre reinforced plastics. With high hardness (55-58HRC) and resistance to wear and corrosion, this product is the powder version of Tyrax ESR steel.

Additive manufacturing for tooling is gaining more and more prominence in the industry, as it makes it possible to create conformal cooling (cooling through conformal channels). This process leads to a reduction in the number of non-conforming parts and shorter cycle times. This allows for increased productivity at a lower cost per part produced.
